"Outstanding service, I can not recommend ABJ enough. I called looking to get a small load delivered for a garden room base, Dave talked me through exactly what I needed and I chose to have it reinforced with fibres. Delivered on time and our delivery driver was again amazing. No rushing and even gave advice on laying. Top quality outfit, when I do our extension they will be the only team I call. Thank you"

My concrete is cracking after only a short period, is there something wrong? All concrete cracks.it has to crack due to contraction during the drying, curing, hardening process, and the bond between the cement paste and the aggregate is not strong enough to withstand that stress. The best way to prevent unsightly cracking is to put joints in your concrete slabs at regular intervals a good formula is to measure the depth of your structure and multiply this by 3 us this to determine the distance in feet between joints. Uneven movement of sub base can also cause cracking as concrete has compressive strength not tensile strength. Epoxy grout is an ideal way of crack repair due to incorrect installation.

What does it mean to “cure” concrete?Curing is one of the most important steps in concrete construction, because proper curing greatly increases strength and durability. Concrete hardens as a result of hydration: the chemical reaction between cement and water however, hydration occurs only if water is available and if the concrete temperature stays within a suitable range.

How much do I need?To work this out you can times your 3 measurements (length, width, depth) i.e. 5m x5m x0.2m = 5m3

Can it be too hot or too cold to pour concrete?Temperature extremes make it difficult for concrete to cure correctly. On hot days too much moisture is lost due to evaporation and drying the concrete out too quickly causing cracking and on cold days hydration is at a minimum under these conditions it can effect the strength.
